How this is worked out
The countdown runs on your device clock. The portal closes on its own server clock, and the two are not always identical, so treat the last fifteen minutes as gone. Uploads fail, sessions expire and the portal queue lengthens exactly when everyone else is submitting.
Forty eight hours is the flag because it is roughly the point at which the things that go wrong stop being fixable. A lapsed solvency certificate takes about a week to reissue, a demand draft needs a bank working day, and a DSC that has expired cannot be replaced overnight.
The list is kept in this browser only. Nothing is sent anywhere, which also means it does not follow you to another device and clearing site data clears it.
Add the bid submission end date, not the document download end date. They are different fields in the notice and the second one usually falls earlier, which is a trap worth knowing about rather than discovering.
Frequently asked questions
How long before the deadline should I submit a tender?
Aim to finish the upload a full working day early, and treat the final hour as unavailable. Portal load rises sharply near close, large attachments time out, and a session that expires mid-upload can require the whole envelope to be re-uploaded. Bidders who submit at the last minute lose bids to infrastructure, not to price.
What is the difference between document download end date and bid submission end date?
The download end date is the last moment you can pull the tender document from the portal; the submission end date is the last moment you can upload your bid. They are separate fields and the download date often falls earlier. Missing it means you cannot obtain the document at all, however much time is left to bid.
Does the portal extend the deadline automatically?
Not automatically. Deadlines move by corrigendum, which the buyer issues and publishes on the portal, and extensions are common where the pre-bid meeting produced substantial changes.
