Portals, common questions
How many government tender portals are there in India?
Public buyers in India publish across dozens of separate e-procurement systems: GeM and the Central Public Procurement Portal at the centre, a portal for each of the 37 states and union territories, plus dedicated systems for the Railways, Defence and the major PSUs. Avsar indexes 97 of them.
Do I need to register separately on each portal?
Yes. Each portal maintains its own bidder registration and its own digital-signature enrolment. A bid must always be submitted on the portal that published the notice. Avsar aggregates notices and prepares the bid pack, but the upload always happens on the government portal under your own DSC.
What is the difference between GeM and CPPP?
GeM is a marketplace for goods and services with catalogue buying, bids and reverse auctions. CPPP (eprocure.gov.in) is a notice-publication and bidding portal used by central ministries and departments, mostly for works and larger services contracts. Many buyers use both, for different kinds of procurement.
